Low self esteem. You don't think you are worth anymore than the "stuff" this person is dishing out to you.
Also, manipulators are just that....they can swing their personalities any which way they want...as long as they know it will win them what they want.

Because the manipulator has been such an integral part of my life for so many years that something like Stockholm Syndrome had set in. I care deeply for him and don't want to see him hurt. I think the thing that would hurt him the most would be to leave him. We'll see how this last chance goes. It's kinda like 'tough love'. It would be so much easier if I didn't care about him.
In general, I think that in trying to please others for so long, I quit trying to make myself happy and ask or even demand things that I wanted or needed. In doing this, my self-confidence and self-esteem were lowered and I became a doormat. Once a doormat, it takes awhile to find that hidden self-confident person hiding in myself... but she IS re-appearing.

This happens for so many reasons one being that the manipulater has taken away all the self esteem that one had, and by then the person being manipulated thinks that she/he can not stand on their own thats why we keep going back to these cowards. the other reason is that the manipulater is insecure and for him/her to feel secure is to abuse and manipulate hence feeling in control. if you are being manipulated by anyone in a relationship get out now before it is to late, leave the loser alone.

Ask yourself...what heppened in your life to permit yourself to be treated like this......then make up your mind to change. It is possible to change.
It is part of maturity....learning to not take abuse.
And sometimes learning to be alone is part of it.
You can do it

It's called codependency. the best thing to do is seek help, for yourself if you want out, or for both of if you want to make it work.
