i've noticed a trend in LAPTOPS that if you're going to get one with an intel core 2 duo processor (which most people say is better than AMD), the video card would most probably be a graphics accelerator from intel as well; and if you're going to get one with an AMD processor, the video card would most probably be either an ATI or nVidia video card (both of which most people say are a lot better than intel's).

here's the case: although people tell me to get an ATI or nvidia graphics card, they also tell me that core 2 duo is much better. it's a laptop im buying and i seldom see one with both items included. it's either one or the other.

im planning to get a laptop that is suited for gaming, so which combo should i get? core 2 duo + intel's graphics media accelerator or amd turion 64 x2 + ati or nvidia graphics card?

tnx in advance! ^_^

FOR GAMING!

You WILL notice a difference with the intel for doing many things like ripping dvds or unpacking large files etc etc. The amd is DOG slow when it comes to stuff like that. Also, in many regards, the intel is still a superior gaming machine even though it costs more for mhz vs mhz.

BUT, because of the limitations in video cards, if this is for gaming, then it's a no brainer as you will be miserable without a good vid card. Everything else can be lowered to keep the games running in the future such as releases that require more UMPH from the cpu.

I am a bit surprised you couldnt find a laptop with intel and a good vid card?

Have you tried looking at www.newegg.com This is the cheapest and most reliable/honest place to buy online from, with the fastest standard delivery.

here is the answer to your question...In the gaming world you want the AMD with the better video... it is the same with desktops, AMDs rule games. INtels seem to take the lead when it comes down to applications like spreadsheets and number crunching stuff. Go and compare desktop systems when they do the processor shoot outs... any graphic intense game the AMDs win... if they don't it usually because Intel is using a new to the market chip and comparing it to an old AMD
