i think its a damn fine idea. i think it shows that thomas jefferson embraced the religious freedom that this country was founded upon. i think that it shows that thomas jefferson wanted to educate himself in as many walks of humanity as possible. i think it shows he had an open mind.

Nothing wrong with inquiring knowledge through reading! I am sure he had a bible too. Remember in those days there was no television, no radio no internet, so they main form of finding out things was by reading them in books.
I have not read the Quran to know about the similarities to the Quran however I do know that Jesus is the only one person that every religion recongizes. Jews know he existed however they think he was not the son of man. Wiccan believe he studied the laws of buddism! Even the muslims believe he was a prophet. No other religion figure outside of god himself holds that acknowledgement!

I am not surprised at all. President Jefferson was a well read individual and in several languages. He had a vast library, especially for the time he lived in.

LOL, he may be tossing about now to know someone was sworn into congress using his copy.

Another thought is, we might all be well served to read it and have a better understanding of what is being promoted.

Thomas Jefferson was a very well read individual, I don't find it at all surprising that he would have a copy of such a circulated book.

He was a very educated man, that's what I think. He had some rather uncomplimentary things to say about organized religion so it's not like he was betraying America's trust as Senator Goode would have you think.

He was a very smart man trying to understand the terrorist mentalities of the middle east and doing a good research about their lives and religion.

Who cares? So he had a Koran (Quran)...why is that a big deal? It really has no bearing either way on how I think about him.
