It is a spam. Many hours are wasted due to spam email. However, by taking simple precautions while giving out your email and installing updated free software, you can prevent spam. More info available at

No, this is not true. The message may have an infected attachment, but it could be a more dangerous thing: the starting point of an online fraud (it is called social engineering). As a rule of thumb, don't reply unsolicited email, by doing it you are only confirming your email address, as the mail could be sent randomly.
It also could be just SPAM, annonying SPAM.

It's neither. Neither true nor a virus, I mean. It's a scam - usually known as "advanced payment fraud" (the official name) or "419" or "Nigerian scam".

The claim is false and the people behind it will keep asking to you for sending them small amounts of money ("small" relatively to the prize they claim you have won - but a few thousands could be a substanstial amount of real money for you) in order to "cover expenses for transferring the prize to you". Sometimes they will ask you to provide access to your bank account "so that they can transfer you the money". In rare cases people have been kidnapped for ransom when inviting them "to come here and see the money with your own eyes".

It is not true; they will ask you to send money before you can claim your prize.
