As you know, Hydrogen is a Diatomic molecule. The reason why it exist in the nature as H2, is because it is more stable than its monatimc H counterpart.

Monatomic H only has one proton and one electron. This means that its 1s orbital is only half filled. However when two Hydrogen atoms form an covalent bond, the 1s orbital gets filled with 2 electrons. This is the same electron configuration (isoelectric) as He, (which is a noble gas) and much stable than monatomic 1S1 electron configuration.

Hydrogen molecules are more stable because the molecular orbital of H2 is in a lower energy state than the atomic orbital in H.
