It should be noted that not all Asian countries eat cats and dogs . . . nor are all peoples who eat dogs/cats Asian. Now that that's established: it's because they're hungry. Cats and Dogs are easier to raise and take less space/food than most farm animals. So in a country like, oh say, China where there is overpopulation and rampant poverty, there is often no choice but to resort to a food that is easy to produce and still good for you (or, at least, better for you than a twinkie). Think about it -- the only difference between Cats/Dogs and Pigs are how our culture looks at them . . . all three animals are clean, intelligent, and make good pets.

I wonder if Hindu individuals living in India (where it is part of their culture, as opposed to just being part of a religion) feel the same way about other cultures eating cows as we feel about other nations eating cats/dogs.

It's not about being mean, it's about what is considered a food source. And to assume that it's just Asians that do that in this present day is ignorant. This happens in other cultures too.

Back in the day, here in the States, when times were lean and game hard to come by, horses, dogs, and yes, even cats were put on the bar-bee so that people could survive.

As Americans, we find it distasteful - pun intended - for our beloved domestic pets to be treated as an entree. Realize though, that this is not the same thought process in all cultures.

Not all Asians do. It may seem weird and unusual to you, but it's normal to people in some Asian countries. It is a part of their culture. People all over the world eat things that you probably think is weird, but it's normal to them.

I eat them for good not for survival because it's one of the greatest delicies I have tasted. Why not try and you'll see the big difference between your routine meals.
