By actually getting conservative in office and not being afraid to admit that the person in office is not a conservative and doesn't have the conservative influences.
How can there be less government if America's phones are being tapped and mail opened? That's more government involvement then ever before!!!
Wasteful spending just look at the no bid contract of Haliburnt!!
America might be fearful that the democrats and the Republicans have flip-flopped sides.

I think many people today are bothered by the large influence of the religious right in conservative politics. Most Americans are really conservatives. In the traditional sense: meaning small government. This new wave of ultra-extreme Religious right who are actually for more government (telling you what to believe, who to like and listen to) alienate many. I think the best chance the conservatives have is to move towards the center. That would make the extreme left that has taken hold look really bad. Conservatism would swing back into power and the majority of Americans would be happy.

Well for starters Bush is a left-leaning moderate, not a conservative. Buchanan and Robertson are true conservatives.
This only shows the hatred of those on the left because even if the Republicans nominate a moderate the left howls. -So why bother with Bush-lite when you can have the real thing.
In short, the best way to maximize conservative influence is to elect a conservative; it has been many years since that has happenned.

I agree with some of the others. We need to get a real conservative in office. Democrats will probably not allow any of their conservatives to be a candidate. So we will have to find an Independant or a Republican conservative.

You're kidding, right??? It is already at the highest peak it's been in many years!!! Now that the Democrats are in power in the House, maybe things can start turning towards a more sane and less fanatical approach to the governing of America and their relations with other countries.

Continue making politics not a debate of differing opinions, but rather a battle of a percieved "good" versus "evil".
