Yes. Gurkhas fought in these areas during WWII:

Burma, including the Battle of Kohima and Battle of Imphal

During the breakout at Anzio my fathers Self Propelled Howitzer was hit by a German 88mm AT. My dads back was broken and he was taken prisoner. 4 days later the HQ of that German Unit was attacked in a night raid and my dad was rescued. The men that rescued him was a unit of Gurkhas. A captured German Officer told the Gurkhas that my dad was going to be killed the next morning. His injuries would not allow him to travel to a POW camp in Germany.
