i would say a virus. it can replicate itself plenty of times and run all the copies, infect ALL *.exe files on your computer. when a bunch of malicious files are running you won't be able to run anything else, and plus exe files are infected (you can't run those), a computer become useless :/ and that's what only the simplest viruses do!

Actually a virus is more dangerous. Hackers like to break into computer systems just to say they can, but do no damage. Crackers are the ones you need to worry about, as they are the ones once in your system, will steal data, delete files, plant keyloggers, etc. People tend to confuse hackers with crackers, and the media does not help as they tend to misuse the terms too. Also, virii can do the same thing. You can prevent access to your computer by taking common sense precautions and running security programs. One is to never be logged into your computer with an account that has administrative rights (this allows you to intsall applications, delete files, etc.) as most spyware, malware and virii need administrative level access to install and do any harm. Probably 98% of the computers in the world are run at the with accounts with admin access. Two, you should have a security suite of some type installed that will prevent the hackers and virus easy access to your system and data. Suites such as Symantec Internet Security Suite or McAfee is a good start. If you do not want to pay $70 then Avast has a good free suite. The suites also incorporate anti virus programs into them. At the minimum you should have a good firewall(Zonelarm, Avast, Symantec, etc) and anti virus program (Antivir, AVG, Avast, Panda, Symantec, McAfee) installed to thwart unauthorized intrusions into your system. Spy ware programs like Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Blacklight, Windows Defender, A-Squared are also a needed part of a good security system.

Definiely a hacker is more dangerous.

A computer virus is just a brainless computer program. It can be quite harmful - but it can't do more than what it has been programmed to do.

As opposed to that, a hacker is a live, intelligent (well, usually), thinking human being. A hacker can adapt to the situation and cause unlimited amount of damage.

A hacker is most likely most powerful over all. Hackers are the ones that create everything and are the ones that enleash all the power to destroy. A virus doen'st just come alive out of no where. It has to be created by a hacker. Because all viruses are created by hackers, it's obvious that the hacker is more powerful. For this reason, I choose hacker.

Most hackers are copycat wimps that take the main code of a working virus/Trojan/worm and modify it in some trivial way to get a new strain of it moving on the net.

Many of them use port attack programs to find weaknesses on computers that respond to a random IP Address. Once found, they try and exploit weakness in your system... Again, all pre-programmed for them, the tools do all the work.

So my answer is a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, or a virus/Trojan/worm already in your system is more dangerous than 2 script kiddies who think they are hackers.

Personally I'd say Hacker!

A Hacker can get into your system and install a key Stroke program to copy all your Pin Numbers to bank account, all your Credit Card Numbers, your social security, and any other information you store or even TYPE out on your computer.

Say Bye Bye to your identity and future.

A Virus can be easily ridden of with a $50.00 program, get Norton Anti-Virus is need be.

Umm, well let's see. A hacker is usually the one who makes the "real" viruses that cost businesses millions each year. Viruses are limited to their ability to evolve and do different things. A hacker, on the other hand, would likely be as bad as having tens or hundreds of viruses at once! He/she has a better ability to adapt in different environments.

HACKER
