I believe they can, because of their innocence, purity, and they allow themselves to believe in it. So they can see what we can't. I don't really think they are trying to warn us. Some might sometimes, but probably very rarely.
At times when I babysit, when I put the baby down for his nap and am relaxing I will see someone walk into his room. (Someone who looks like a 5-7 year old boy.) out of the corner of my eye. The first few times I freaked out and ran into his room either to see nothing and him sleeping peacefully, or him smiling and looking at something I couldn't see.
Sometimes when I make him lunch, he will stand in the kitched and talk to someone I don't see. If I am cutting something with a sharp knife, I will feel someone touch my arm. I've gotten so used to it that I never even flinch, and when he is talking or laughing for no reason I know to prepare myself for something creepy.
Also, when I was younger (not a baby but younger) I saw my Grandfather standing in my doorway watching me sleep. I got up and ran to him and he said he was sorry and then was gone, then we found out he had died. (I had no idea who he was back then, he just looked so much like my dad I thought it WAS my dad in my door way.)
Sometimes little kids (about 3) will also be talking to someone the family knew that died, that the child has never met or heard the name of. Then when they see pictures, they point and somehow know the persons name.
I think when we grow up, we start to say these things aren't real so we don't see them at all. And even when we do believe, part of us doesn't believe, but a child doesn't know not to.
This is one reason I think that parents who refuse to let the child sleep in their bed, or who get mad when they cry for "nothing" are being unintentionally cruel. We never know what they see. Someone could scare them, or they may see terrible things that would make even adults want to crawl into bed with bigger stronger people.

I think that babies can see what we cant to a certein extent.
I believe they are closer to god and know a lot more then people give them credit for. By the time they learn how to talk they forget alot of it. But sometimes they know more then we think they do as a child, that is why they sometimes will say something that surprises us. I believe this is how god planned it to be. That is one of the reasons I cant stand it when people abuse and neglect children because they are so clean and godly in alot of ways.
As for babies trying to warn us. I guess that could be true to a certein extent. Maybe god is trying to worn us through babies.
He might be trying to tell us to be more christlike. Because christ loves children and i think we all should and do everything in our power to protect and provide for them.

Yes, babies can see spirits and ghosts b/c they have not been "taught" that these cannot be seen yet. Visit Sylvia Brown's websites or read some of her books. Very interesting and insightful, sure got me believing in an afterlife!!

There is no scientific proof, but some say because of their puriety of heart they can sometimes see in the spiritual rehlm.
For instance my youngest grandson sometimes stares at nothing at all and smiles and reacts as if someone were there.
In my own wishful need I hope that he sees one of his greatgrandpas or perhaps his uncle who died way too young.
