A sound card can be in one of two places. It can be plugged into a PCI slot or it can be built into your motherboard.

Just to expand on what the previous guy said, sound that's integrated on the motherboard isn't guaranteed to be as good as a PCI card. It heavily depends on the age of your system.
Just about every integrated sound card chip from the 90's to 2002 were horrible. Many were software emulated stealing clock cycles away from the CPU. Back when the average CPU was less than 1GHz fast, this was a big factor making PCI sound cards a must have. Only in the more modern PC's is integrated sound OK enough to stick with.
With that out of the way, follow your speaker cord that goes to the back of your PC. There you will find the sound card.

most Computers these days have sound built into the motherboard. it will be the actual section where the ports for the speakers are. it is only a couple of inches wide by a couple of inches long. you can still get PCI sound cards, but they are usually no better than the onbaord card and will eat up one of your expansion slots.

you have gotten an "integrated" card and not a stand on my own plug in variety. yet there might desire to be jacks on the back of the computer ( many are shade coded to the speaker shade gentle blur and mic green) only look close to the place the computer screen is pluged in and seek for holes ( female enter).
