I think Bob Chapman's visitors is a really good bet for you

I agree with the above answers, but I would say some of the concepts may be too old for a 10 year old. If you want a book that will stretch a ten year old's mind and be entertaining to an adult as well, may I recommend Visitors by Bob Chapman. it's on Amazon

It is best that you read them first and judge for yourself. You know the maturity level of your child better than we do. Most of his stuff was written 50-60 years ago, but published in magazines geared for adult readers. Asimov generally does not have the sexual content of Heinlein, but beware-it might slip in a few times.

I would recommend "The Caves Of Steel" as a good starting point. it has been combined with "The Naked Sun" and "The Robots Of Dawn" into a collection called "The Robot Novels."

"I, Robot" is also okay for most children in the 10-12 year-old age range.

The Moon is actually a good bit younger than the Earth. The Moon is thought to have formed by a collision with Earth and an unknown object if I remember correctly. Also dust can't exist on the Moon due to extremities that are not present on Earth. Your shadow on the moon is about -200, and on the side without shadow it will be scorching. Dust as we know it anyway. The moon clearly has a dust-like substance though. Just look at Google Maps Moon.

Absolutely!

If you are ok with the content of Star Trek, you should be comfortable with Asimov's SciFi.

Yes, they would more than likely be fine. He wrote a whole series of "juvenile" science fiction under the name Paul French; the Lucky Star adventures. Those would definitely be age-appropriate.
