Her show always irritated me, it was sooo stereotyped and she had such a strident, screechy sort of voice....grrrrrrrrrr.

You are right about slapstick being lame. But you have to understand too that when Lucille Ball was popular, slapstick was still quite the gag in those days and that is how it came to be the tool they used.
We evolved and things that used to be funny even in the 60's and 70's aren't as funny today maybe because we have changed.
Watching some of the old reruns of some of the most popular shows today somehow just don't seem nearly as funny as they did back then.

Wow. Around the turn of the century, I was asked who I thought was the funniest comedian of the 20th century.
Bob Hope? Groucho Marx? Jerry Lewis? Laurel/Hardy? Steve Martin? Jonathan Winters? Johnny Carson? George Burns? W. C. Fields? Peter Sellers?
After giving it several days of thought, I settled on Lucille Ball.

I do i've got watch i admire Lucy because of the fact that i became 6 yrs previous and that i admire each and all of the re-runs and that i nevertheless proceed to computer screen. Shes not something like the divas immediately i admire her! i attempt to seize her different television shows if i stumble on them. we adore Lucy has maximum of my renowned episodes.

Well some things she use to say and do were funny to me!!! on the other hand Rickey not funny at all, but to each he own right!!!

To each his/her own but Lucy was a great comedian & didn't have to swear or be dirty to be funny!
Obviously you are from a different era or you would feel the same.
I LOVE LUCY is still watched by many.
Lucy & Ricky were a perfect team...until their divorce. :o)
