It's legal here in good old North Carolina. We have a lot of folks in the next town over (large Hispanic population) who have the undercar neon. Personally, I think the underbody neon lights are cool. They are no distraction to me, no moreso than the big Confederate flags in pickup windows or the dead deer in hunters' pickup beds, or the large tractors who go down the road, or even those souped up American cars with the loud glass-packed mufflers or additional body parts.

Welcome to freedom, folks, freedom to decorate your car. :)

I remember a few years ago when the 1st fast and the furious first came out and I remember reading somewhere that cali was the only state where neon lights under the car was legal. But i wouldnt be surprised now if it was illegal in cali given cali's extremely anal car regulations and emissions tests.

And to ansewr the question...its considered a "distraction" for other drivers. Which to me sounds like a load of horsecrap but that's the price you pay living in a "free" country

it's considered a distraction which makes it illegal-- but that's technically only if you get caught!
