im planning on going to do pre-med at UCLA. I was just worried about the MCAT test. I think I will do good with GPA maybe 3.7 but like the MCAT test seems pretty hard. But what score do I need to go any medical school(say UCI or UCLA) with a 3.7GPA and volunterring hours.

I answered this on another thread, but

Average national GPA/MCAT of medical applicants is 3.6/30.

3.7 is nice, 3.9 is obviously better, upward trend in last two years is best.

For UC schools, I wouldn't score below a 30 to have a decent shot. Of course, getting a 30+ is something often easier said than done. Study hard!

Good luck!

The average mcat score is 24, but the average score of accepted students is 28. Some schools have a much higher average so it's good to look at each possible school's website and find their average score. For information on average scores of accepted students you can also check out www.amcas.org This is also where you sign up for the mcat, but if you click on more information there's a page full of statistics dividing accepted students into groups based on gpa, gender, race, state of residency, etc. good luck!

A 10 on each section is pretty good; that will get you into most places. The MCAT isn't fun, but you'll get through it. Good luck!

You genreally take the MCAT prior to entering Med School (your senior year of undergrad school)...The MCAT is comprehensive of all of the Pre-Med courses that you've taken (Biology, A&P, Chemistry, etc.)

You just have to buckle down and study....Of course it is difficult!!!!
