Well, if you think about, Carmelo is 6'8" and is not a small man body wise. I'm pretty sure he has always been one of the biggest kids, as most basketball players are, so in Melo's life, I don't think many people ever challenged him so I wouldn't be suprised if he wasn't a good fighter. Anybody can throw a punch but he probably knew he didn't want to fight. Think about it, can you imagine any kids walking up to Carmelo and challenging him to a fight when he was younger, doubt it. Basketball players are some of the worst fighters and probably always will be because of their size, they never really get challenged in their life. If you saw the fight between Shaq and Charles Barkley years ago when Shaq was a Laker and Barkley was a Rocket, Shaq basically lost even though he is bigger, because I seriously DOUBT anyone ever walked up to Shaq and tried to smack him in the face, so he can't really fight! So I don't blame Melo for throwing the punch and walking away, it was smart of him because after that one punch he landed, that's all people see so right now he looks cool but if he can't fight and would've gotten whooped, he would've looked more like a sucker. Finally, he still got the most games suspended, so if there would've been a fight between him and anyone, he probably would've been done for most of the season.

Amare is good but he's not superstar caliber anymore. If he was cheaper I wouldn't mind him being on the team. But the dude costs 100 million and he's one dimensional, he doesn't rebound or defend. In his defense though, he took like 9 shots today while Melo took around 26. So Amare needs more shot attempts. The offense is running through Melo right now. But still, the knicks are poorly designed. Melo is an iso player and Amare is a pick an roll guy.. the genius in knicks management, James Dolan decided to put two ball stoppers with opposite styles of play on the same team. In short, Dolan is an idiot, he screwed the knicks over because he filled the cap with three players. No other team will take on amare's contract.

Yeah i think he is a coward. First of all he has no business going over there and punching one of the players. Then after he punches them he runs I mean who does that. If your gonna throw a punch u don't run away after. I thought Carmelo was better than that.

No way. If Carmelo would have stayed where he was and not walked away like a so-called "coward", then it just would have been another Pacer-Pistons brawl. Carmelo probably got caught up in the moment and left because he knew that if he would have thrown anymore punches, or if he would have let the other guy throw any punches at him, then BOTH of them would get suspended for a long time...Like Ron Artest did.
or like Jermaine O' Neal.

No, there was pushing and shoving going on, and bodies falling on each other. Most likely he was defending himself against any potential attack. I live in NYC, and I had seen that fight countless times on the local news and on ESPN. That fight was no where nearly as bad as the Indiana/Detroit fight. That fight was a barn burner.

perhaps he was a coward, but a smart thing he did nonetheless...he got back at the guy that fouled j.r. smith (kinda got back at him, it was more of a slap) and he avoided getting hit.
