I like pop songs that are light and easy to dance to. Some artists that I enjoy are Ashley Tisdale, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Clay Aiken, and A-Teens. Pretty much anything that is light with a fast tempo and is mind-numbingly shallow would be great.

if ur in a rockn mood, go for something media core punk. like american idiot, the black parade or something.
if ur in an easy loving mood go for far away by nickelback; tell me baby by rhcp; try weird al, everything of his rox. blink182 has some pretty good songs, like whats my age again, typical buh easy listening. evanescence is inspiring when writing stories, jet is good for sitting back and drinking; and try the dandy warhols for when ur dancin around in ur room; or inxs, don maclean, the kooks, vanessa carlton and tonic for poppy smoothness. 'allstar' is a pretty gd song too if ur bored n feel like smiling.
