As long as some properly indexed site somewhere is linking to it, SE's will find it. This is a long process that can only be helped by adding your site to the SE's indexes (if offered, but even that isn't guaranteed inclusion). Make sure you have a lot of text. They like relevent WORDS (it gives them the sense that your site is worth indexing). Your hitcount matters not to a search engine, since it doen'st track that. It does go by your link popularity, though. Meta tags aren't supported by any major SE's anymore, but the title tag is a good one. Alt tags and good anchor text is also valued.

Keywords: Use keyword search results to select keywords and phrases for the site. Formulate Meta Keyword Tag to focus on these keywords. Although Google currently ignores the keyword tag, it still is very important to include one. List the keywords in order of importance for that given page. A site should have approximately 500 characters / 20 phrases maximum. Sample:
Page Title Tags: Title Tags are very important determinants of search engine placements. Page Title Tags should include the most important keywords related to that page, besides the site identity. Every page should have a unique title. 80 characters maximum - Google display max is 70 (count the spaces) – MS-Word does not count space characters. It may be advantageous to list your most important keywords first, before the site identity. Sample:
Antique furniture, doll houses and novelties - Olde Church Emporium
Description: Use results from keyword search to create the Meta Description Tag. Remember the Meta Description Tag is only seen with the title tag so be very cautious of any duplication. The description information displayed by Google is somewhat dynamic based upon the search criteria entered. Google may display the Meta Description Tag if it contains an exact match with the search criteria. Often, however Google will locate the first sentence on the page with an exact match and will display that snippet of content. Approximately 200 characters maximum. (Google displays approx. 140)
Sample:
Descriptive URLs: Revise page urls (filenames) to 2 or 3 words that best describe the page content. Use a hyphen character between the words. Example: railcar-parts.html.
Links: Make text navigation links keyword rich. If graphic buttons are used (or any linked image), place keyword rich descriptions in the image alt attribute. Create linked text using keywords within the content of pages – especially the home page.
Domain Name: A keyword rich domain name may assist you in search engine ranking.
Samples: www.Precision-Grinding.com www.Marsha-Doll-Houses.com www.Business-Cards.com Use a hyphen character between the words. Capitalization in domain names is for readability purposes only. If your web server is configured to accept both www.domain.com and domain.com, select one as the "canonical" URL and redirect the other to it using a 301 Permanent redirect.
Use Page Headings and Subheadings: Search engines usually assign higher weight to terms placed inside heading tags (
through ). Use (only one tag per page) for page headings and or lower for subheadings. Include relevant keywords while formulating headings and subheadings.
Use Image Alt Attribute on All Images: For all images, include a brief text descriptor (with keywords) of the image, placed inside the image alt attribute.
Repeat Keywords in Text: Search engines count the total number of occurrences of keywords on a page. Page text should maximize the occurrence of important keywords. Minimum 150 words per page - preferably 200-250+.
Add Page Bottom Text Links: The primary navigation could be graphic or non-graphic buttons with supplemental navigation from page bottom text only links. This technique doubles the occurrence of links while also improving navigation.
Inbound (Relevancy) Links & Google PageRank: The number of links pointing into a site from other sites is used as a measure of site popularity by search engines (especially Google) and plays a crucial role in keyword ranking. To improve popularity, links into the site should be sponsored on sites such as business directories, chamber of commerce sites, affiliated business sites etc. The higher the Google PageRank of the site linking to yours, the greater the benefit you receive. In addition, a keyword rich link-text into your site is of importance.
Obtaining links from websites ranking high on your link phrase are coveted.
Some Examples:
• A logo with a link specified on it. -- Not the best
• Click Here to visit the Jones Brothers Custom Welding website. -- Again, not the best
• For all your custom welding needs, visit the Jones Brothers website. -- Much better

The fewer outbound links on the page linking to you, the better. Avoid links from link farms. To some degree, a larger site will achieve a higher Google PageRank value. A link from a webpage with a Google PageRank of zero is probably not worth much.
Outbound Links & Google PageRank: Establish an individual page for outbound links such as a Partners, Links or Other Resources page. There is a slight negative effect (Google PageRank Leakage) incurred with outbound links and creating a single page with the outward links will isolate and minimize this harmful effect. Do not link to a webpage with a Google PageRank value of zero!
Update Quarterly: Some search engines may recognize staleness. Update your critical SEO pages at least once every quarter. This will also keep you website fresh for visitors! Change the word count.
Do not do: Meta Refresh Tags, Invisible/Tiny Text, Frames, or Over Submission. Instead, build a crawler-friendly website.
