I read an articule that said that Willie Nelson thought that we should change our national anthem to "America the beautiful". I say to leave our anthem alone, that it signifies the spirit of the american people. What do you think?

the national anthem is a sign for our freedom and our patriotism. it is greatly recognized around the world and should be left alone.

Playing the devil's advocate, "The Star-Spangled Banner" is a rather difficult song musically. It has a pretty broad range of notes, and there aren't a lot of really good places to take a breath, not to mention it's a fairly long song.
(It almost makes you wonder if the representatives of other countries roll their eyes and heave a groan when they hear "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the Olympics.)
Of course, I'm not saying it's a bad song, just that "America the Beautiful" would be easier on the vocal chords of anyone who has to sing The National Anthem at a sporting event (or the ears of anyone who has to listen to that person sing The National Anthem).

i think it should stay too!! Our National Anthem shows what this country went through to be where it's at today and why we are better off than many other nations in the world. America the Beautiful just talks about how beautiful it is...who cares. But yeah i agree with you.
