I don't like the way hyperterminal acts when you scroll up, and when you capture a 'show run' command, it inserts a section of ASCII squares on every page when you print it.

try PuTTY. its a great telent/ssh/rlogin client that i've used for years and am constantly impressed with the new features i'm still learning.

Putty is free and supports telnet as well as ssh encryption.
ssh is much better since that traffic cannot be spied by others in the network.
When you configure a network router you don't want others knowing how you configured the security (passwords or anything)!

Check that the cisco router supports ssh access first.

I just use the telnet that comes with Windows. Always have, works fine.
