He deserved to die but the circus these idiot guards put on will only make the civil war in Iraq worse and help kill more American troops. It looked like a wild west lynching.

He did deserve it, and it could have been far worse for him. He died almost instantaneously. I had to answer because there seems to be a lot of ignorance on this subject by people. Saddam was hung for crimes against Shia Muslims, including dozens of innocent women and children.(and he was on trial for killing hundreds of thousands more Kurds). At present the government of Iraq is composed of almost exclusively Shia's and Kurds, the Sunnis largely boycotted the vote. He was hung in (what I believe to be) a symbolic location, a former compound of HIS secret and brutal security forces. While he was being readied, an outburst comes from one of the guards, referring to a Muslim Cleric who disappeared and was certainly murdered by him and his secret police. It is symbolic, and hardly surprising, that someone would taunt him with this name, knowing that HE would have had this Cleric executed here or nearby. If you think about it, if Hitler had been captured and was going to be executed, wouldn't it be just as likely (and fitting) that someone stepped up and taunted him with the name of Anne Frank?
along with a curse that he was going to hell for it??? On the whole, he got a lot of dignity, a lot more than any of his victims were shown. He fared pretty easy, considering he was in the hands of people who hated him and wished him far greater harm. He was taunted, but he took it like a man, head up (at least) right until the end. If you are squeamish, there is an edited CNN version where everything up to the execution is shown and heard, with an English translation It is very interesting to see his final moments, and very surreal.

He was a bloodthirsty, power hungry murderer and deserved to die. Not by hanging, but by torture, as did so many of his victims. His executioners were just as cruel and no more civilized than he was, though. That's why it was so bad.
Having said that, let me note that 3,000 brave young Americans and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi's have died, far more than the number of victims on 9/11, because of George W. Bush's lies to Americans and his determination to hijack the United States Military to pursue not weapons of mass destruction or any of the other incarnations of his excuses, but to fight a war he wanted for years, even before he was elected. Is that just a different kind of terrorism? Food for thought.

Just see it. well I just do not understand what reconciliation they are preaching if they are still killing. Now I do not know where is the difference between Saddam and them. They have bloods on they hands and that's makes them Killers too and soon they will be dictators too . What we have to do just wait and see. He does deserve to die they way he did , life in prisoner will be better. Most of presidents they go to exile, My question is who are those get some asylum?

He was hanged. Killed. It's never pretty, or kind. But he did murder many people in his country, so ... if anyone deserved the death penalty - he apparently did. The video just showed him drop through a trap door then a picture of his face several seconds later swinging from the rope, but it didn't look bizarre or anything, just his head was a bit tilted to one side.

He committed genocide, so yes, he should have been hung.
And yes, under Iraqi law, hanging is the method of execution. This is what they deemed applicable for his punishment. But considering the way Saddam killed people, any number of terrible deaths would still be too good for him.
And the video isn't bad at all. He dies instantly.

Did he deserve to die, yes!!
Did he deserve to die at that time (the time when some Muslims, maybe even himself celebrated Eid) No. No matter how evil the person might be, you have to still respect the religion. coz its just not his religion.. its everyone's religion (for that particular religious group). The fact that his own country decided to do that made it worse.

The orchestrated debacle of his hanging was a pathetic undertaking. As the facts come out, it gets much worse. Turns out that the execution took place in a building located on an American base. It's also been said that the camera-phone operator was one of our puppet Iraqi officials.
Why didn't we just draw and quarter him on Fox News or Al Jazeera for christ's sake?

I am glad Bush removed a bad man off the streets but this time I hope he spends alittle more time on someone that had something to do with 911.
