No. The PSP and DS work on different time tables than the consoles do. And for the consoles they still have life left in them still. In fact, God of War 2 is going to be on PS2. Have no fear, the current systems before these new next-gen are not going obsolete quite yet. They still have life left in them. And the handheld gaming is going strong and are not on same page as consoles.

Yes and No.

Sony is still in support of the PS2 because it's still outselling the newer consoles. But the support will dwindle over the years, probably 1 or 2 more years, and Sony will probably stop supporting the PS2. Sony is also supporting the PSP because they want to create more interactions between the PSP and PS3.

Nintendo has pretty much given up on the Gamecube. Don't expect Nintendo to make any more GC, and don't expect to see a lot of games released for the GC.

Nintendo hasn't abandon the DS because it's still a huge seller for Nintendo. Nintendo owns the handheld gaming market, so it's not going to abandon their current handheld system any time soon.

Gamecube -> Very soon Nintendo will quit making GC games. The post above me (the penguin dude) is SO not knowing what he's talking about. I bet he/she doesn't even have Wii to know that Wii uses GC controllers to play GC games (SO, mr smartypants, NO MOTION SENSING incompatibility BS).
When you open the slot on top of wii, it has 4 inputs for GC controllers.

PS2 -> I guess Sony eventually will stop producing PS2 games (it won't be as fast as Gamecube, though)

PSP -> NO. PS3 and PSP can connect with each other; so, i doubt we'll see the last of PSP.

DS -> NO. The same reason as PS3 and PSP. Wii and DS lite will be able to communicate with each other just as Gamecube with GBA advance.

PS2 and GC are done, a few titles will come out for probably the next year or so, but you will see fewer and fewer, and probably no first-party titles (e.g. published by Nintendo or Sony directly).

The PSP and DS are handheld systems and are not related to the PS3 and Wii. You can expect to see new game for those systems for many years to come.

Oh, and by the way, The Wii is fully backwards compatible. There are Gamecube Controller ports on the Wii for use when playing GC or Virtual Console games.

If ur a gaming nerd, choose for the xbox 360. If u love an excellent variety of crap packed right into a console w/ no sturdy video games and being $six hundred poorer, purchase the ps3. If ur an casual gamer and u prefer to have an excellent variety of relaxing w/ people, attempt the wii. In handhelds, ds has extra effective video games yet very almost no better useful factors different than wireless. If u like having no sturdy video games, yet an ok media participant, the psp is a thank you to head.

They will keep coming out with ps2 games for awhile like xbox did. same with gamecube. They won't make new ones but those like Rouge Galaxy which was already in the works will still come out.

Psp and DS are the newest handhelds. They're in a different class. They won't stop making games for them until a new handheld for each company comes out. But they still make gameboy games so who knows

NO! havent u noticed that um there still makin ps2 only games, and the wii cant play all the games that gamecube can due to its motion sensitivity, so they still make gamecube games, and why would they give up on the ds its the newest handheld on the market!

Doubt they would, but it will be like any other game device. The making for games will get lower and lower since a new game device is in town.
