It is not based on country, but yes. If you flush a toilet (or pull the plug in a bathtub) in the Northern Hemisphere, the water will circulate like it does in the U.S. If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, it will spin in the other direction.

This is a myth. Many people say the direction of the flow of water in the toilet or bath tub has to do with the Coriolis effect (this is what causes ocean currents to curve and hurricanes to spin), but Coriolis effect only affects large bodies of water and air masses. The direction in the toilet has to do more with the shape of the basin and direction of flow.

By the way, the Coriolis effect is caused by the rotation of the earth. As earth spins, it sloshes the oceans and winds, causing them to move in a certain way.

Toilets in most countries flush as in the USA, however some have a bidet that shoots water on your butt to help you clean it. Philippines, most do not use toilet paper, but use soap and water to clean up after defecating.

Have you ever watched water go down your own drain? The motion begins randomly and continues in that way. So your water can spin in either direction.
