It was originally called 7th Heaven because there were 7 people in the family (Annie, Eric, Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, and Ruthie), when the twins were born(in the third season) it was changed to reflect the seven Camden children (Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie, Sam, and David). The heaven part obviously relates to Eric's occupation as a pastor.

They started the show, counting Mom & Dad The boys didn't come for many moons, when the doctor called to give them the good news. Everyon thought Mary was with child, you might not remember this but the first show of the twins were played by twin girls. Then they found the twin boys and that my friends, is a little history of the twins. Then after the twins birth, they are now 7.

No, sam and david were born around 3-4 seasons into the show. I think it might be because of the number of people in the househol itself.
1. Matt 2. Mary 3. Lucy 4. Simon 5. Ruthie 6. Annie 7. Eric.
just my guess

Seventh heaven is supposed to mean the highest part of heaven you can possibly reach. It's an old saying.

I think they just took that title from the saying 'I'm in 7th heaven' or however someone would word it.

i think i'm wrong but somewhere i read that 7th heaven means something like happiness. and it somewhat makes sense because they are rarely ever mad at each other and are happy.
