Very few PhD students at top schools pay for their education -- especially in business schools.

PhD students at the top B-Schools usually get a fellowship during their first year and get RAs and TAs after that.

I got my PhD in Finance at Berkeley (1997-2001). Aid paid for my tuition and fees, and gave be a stipend between $13 and $15K.
