Yes. First of all, you should not pierce ANYTHING yourself because you risk infection & your piercing can end up looking really bad. Also, it is going to hurt worse if you pierce yourself because the needles used at a piercing shop are super sharp and designed for going through layers of tissue so it is alot less painful then using whatever it is you would plan on using. I have had many things pierced, and I would say that the bellybutton was the most painful, I think because it goes through so much more tissue than compared with alot of other piercing areas. Definitley spend the money and get it done professionaly! Good luck!

Piercing your stomach by yourself or by anybody else is painful.

Pain treshold varies a lot from individuals to individuals i.e. some people may be more sensitive than others.

One can always decrease the pain by using a local topical anaesthetic spray or gel or tiny infiltration on the skin where it is going to be pierced.

The spray is Ethyl Chloride and the gel or infiltration can be a dermal Lignocaine or similar compound.

Remember,if it is not done with all the aseptic techniques ,it may get infected and the pain is thus prolonged.

If you are still in doubt it is better to ask the help of a practical expert.

DON'T DO IT!!!
You will end up with a scar you regret the rest of your life.

Trust me i did mine myself when I was 16.

The way they do it professionally is they have a special needle that actually removes a teeny chunk of skin to keep a hole and minimize scar tissue build-up. Their needle also has a curve that you can not get yourself. If you pierce it straight through it will not look good and any normal belly ring will not sit well and always tilt to the side instead of sit the way it is supposed to.

Your stomach will create ugly scar tissue and is more suceptible to infection.

If your belly button gets infected that is closer to your vital organs and can spread and cause more harm.

wait until you can get it done professionally or you will be embarassed by your results.

I have a feeling you are asking this question because you are under 18, the legal age to get your navel pierced. Do NOT do it yourself!
Try what I did when I was 16...I told my parents that it is not permanant, It can easily be removed, it is not visible to people unless I show them. The most important thing that convinced my parents to take me was the fact that I told them I was probably going to get it done regardless if it were a friend of mine or a janky shop guy who didn't care.
They chose the place, checked references and took me so they knew it was safe. It was manipulative, but it worked. I'm 22 now and still have it.

Why would you want to know this, why would you even want to try doing it yourself. Getting a piercing done professionally does not cost that much. Ending up in hospital with a severe infection does cost a lot.

Yes it would!!!There is a very high risk that you would end up in hospital. Dont do it yourself!!! You risk alot of pain and infection. Leave well alone! But if you must have it done...have it done by a professional!! All the best :o)
