*1.Why did the band break up?

Some say that they were breaking up since the first day they were together...pressures following up Hotel California built up to the boiling point while recording The Long Run. It was nobody's fault and everyone's fault. They broke up in 80, but didn't announce it until 1982.

The Eagles original members were: Glen Frey, Don Henley, Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon. Not really sure why they all broke up but I do know that Leadon left in late '75 and was replaced by Joe Walsh. Don Felder also joined the band before that in '74. I know there was a lot of bad blood between Meisner & the rest of the band when Eagles Live came out. and he left in 1977 though he is heard singing on Eagles Live which came out in 1980. Timothy B Schmidt replaced him. In 82 the Eagles broke up until 1994 when they recorded "Hell Freezes Over" with Frey/Henley/Walsh/Schmidt/Felder. Felder was booted from the band for after that and now it's just Frey/Henley/Walsh/Schmidt

I don't know why they broke up, but Joe Walsh was definitely NOT an original member! He was in the band; The James Gang and then had a solo carrier (Rocky Mountain Way) way before joining the Eagles. I think he replaced Tim Schmidt and believe Hotel California was 1st album he appeared on. By the way, the Hell Freezes Over tour was named after when they felt they'd get together again!

Don Henley , Glenn Frey,Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, were the original 4,the more known names came along later....Probably broke up over the reason many groups do,either ego, couldn't get along together,or the more known version of the group couldn't out perform theie Hotel California period, grew stagnant after that
