I have had my lip and nose pierced.
The lip hurt worse than my nose.

When I got my lip pierced (in the middle so I could switch out a stud and a hoop) I think it actually scared me more than it hurt. It felt like they were piercing a really big zit, so it wasn't too bad. The only time it really hurt was after it was pierced and healing. I could barely eat because it was really swollen, and every time I hit it, or accidentally bit down on the back of the stud, it hurt like hell! It took about 2 weeks before I wad used to it and could eat regularly again. I have had it since 2004.

When I got my nose pierced, I barely felt it actually. I was fine right after I got it pierced, and didn't hurt at all. It was a lot harder to keep clean though and it got infected so I had to take it out. I still have a scar (a year and a half later) but it's just a small dot.

Good luck :) If you have anymore questions you can e-mail me and I'd be happy to answer them for you.

None of these are a freaking answer! Having your lip pierced feels a little bit like biting it. It's a quick pinch followed by a dull ache. I didn't think the piercing itself was too bad, but the swelling afterwards was a bit uncomfortable (though not intolerable). I hit my mouth on a friends head once, and that hurt a hell of a lot worse. As for the piercing, it goes like this. The piercer will clean the area and probably have you swish your mouth with Listerine. S/he will dry the area and mark it inside and out, and then center a pair of forceps (clamp) on the holes. They will use a hollow, tri-beveled piercing needle (usually 16g, sometimes 14g) to do the piercing. The tip will be aligned with the outside of your lip, and the piercer will ask you to breathe. On your exhale, the piercer will pierce your lip as fast as you can snap your fingers. The clamp will come off, you'll be sitting there with a needle through your lip. The jewelry, which is the same diameter as the needle will finish pushing the needle out, and then the piercer will attach the other end of your piercing (either a bead for a CBR, or a ball for a barbell / labret stud). The piercer will clean off the markings and any dribbles of blood or drool, and you'll be good to go. Keep some advil and ice handy, because your lip will feel bruised and a little swollen for the next three days. I liked holding ice water up to my mouth but not drinking. That made it feel like a million bucks. In all, the best thing to do if you want quick healing is NEVER touch it with your hands, and resist the urge to move it around and play with it with your tongue, other lip. Worst part - no kissing for a little while, at least until it doesn't hurt any more. Anyhow... Good luck. I think lip piercings are wonderful, and I hate it when people answer you with meaningless drivel. I hope that this helped. Rob

As you can see, everyone is going to give you different answers because everyone is different and what one person says doesn't hurt, is extremely painful to another. You might as well be asking a Magic 8 Ball if it will hurt. You won't know until you do it.

I can tell you that a lip piercing is the hardest to take care of during the healing process. Because part of it is inside your mouth you have to do all the things you would with a tongue ring like the mouth wash after everything you eat or put in your mouth AND you have to take care of the outside like you would with any other piercing. So the process of keeping everything clean during the healing process is double duty or like having two separate piercings.

Of all the three, lip hurts the most.. even m plannin to get my bell button pierced.. i dunno much about the pain.. piercing on nose doesn hurt much.. but peircing lower lip is a difficult thing.. the lips become hard n since it ll hurt u wont be able to eat or drink as per ur conviniency for atleast a few days.. but if u r still keen about it, use moisturiser daily, talk to the best artist.. don let any ordinary fellow pierce it.. u ve gotta be careful.. Stay stylish!

You are putting a hole in your body! Of course it's going to hurt! I believe the lip is much more sensitive to pain than the belly button area. Don't deform your body like that!

Nose hurts the most!! I've had tongue, lip, ears, nipples and navel done, and nose was by far the worst. Followed by tongue, then nipples, then bely button, then lip then ears..... hope that helps. None of them are really that painful, I'd say go for labret

You'll know what a fish feels like...You'll feel exactly like a fish getting hooked!

it was one of the most painful outta all of mine. and it gets infected easily too. i've had it done and redone 3 times because it got messed up so easily and was annoying. Actually, my hood piercing hurt tons less when it was done than the lip.....SO THINK ABOUT THAT! lol

Of course its going to hurt. You're getting a piece of metal stabbed through your lip, you should expect some amount of pain, regardless of how your pain tolerance is.
