Well, if you lived in the States I would tell you to get the Backstage Actor's Handbook and read it cover to cover. Since you're not though, I suppose what is true here can hold true in Japan as well. Find a reputable class to get instruction. This is good in many ways. It's something you can add to your resume and it's a great way to network and start finding work. One such class you might want to look into is the technique taught by Tadashi Suzuki. His technique is rigorous and demanding, but an adept practitioner of it can get a lot of work.

In addition to classes, you need a business card, a.k.a. headshots. Find a photographer and see if you like their work and get along with them. Before doing your headshots, determine what types of roles you can play and cater your headshots around that. Obviously you won't be auditioning for roles like Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Know what you can play and perfect it. Once you've broken into the industry and had some success, then branch out into roles that would be against your type.

Now the simplest answer to your question is this....just start doing it. Find auditions. Get a monologue prepared. And GO! Get as much work under your belt as you can. Don't burn bridges. Don't be cocky. Be on time. And don't be a pain to work with. Do all those things and you'll be off to a good start.

Good luck. This is a difficult journey to take and not one to be taken lightly.

Is there a theatre class at school? Is there a community theatre you could try out for? It can be great fun even just to start out as a towns person and learn the ropes of theatre. It can be very rewarding. I wish you the best.
