As to your other questions (boy, you DO make it hard to earn those precious 10 points! :-)....

There has been three volumes of the comic book series bearing the name TEEN TITANS. The first came out in 1966 and lasted until 1976 (53 issues). The second volume came out in 1996 and after only 24 issues, it ceased publication in 1998. The latest incarnation of the Teen Titans came out in 2003 and is still in circulation to this day (approaching issue #50, actually).

However, it is worth noting that in 1980, the group has been relaunched as THE NEW TEEN TITANS and had Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Jericho as founding members (Robin changed his name to Nightwing in one of the earlier issues and changed his costume to what you see in the cartoon series).

This series proved to be so popular that it even rivalled the X-Men in sales and clout back then. They even teamed up for one issue where they both battled Trigun and Dark Phoenix. Several mini-series featuring individual stories---including the origins---of new members came out to meet demand. Those were very interesting times for fans of this team.

That first volume's name was changed to TALES OF THE NEW TEEN TITANS with #41. It lasted 91 issues.

The second volume featuring the New Teen Titans came out in 1984 (a better paper called Mando and later Baxter was used for this series so the colors were more vibrant and the art crispier and cleaner). Its title was changed to NEW TITANS with #50. After 130 issues, DC Comics stopped publishing the series (1996).

The comic series that came out almost at the same time as the cartoons you love so much is called TEEN TITANS. As a matter of fact, I have the first TWENTY issues. Issue #1 has many variants but I sold the regular edition almost a year ago for $10. I keep a second copy which is a reprint.

My advice to you is to buy the trade paperbacks because they are much cheaper and more convenient to store or carry around. (Check out the Perez-drawn stories too most notably THE JUDAS CONTRACT 'cause the story's very good!) But if you want to collect the ENTIRE current series, be prepared to shell out lots of cash for the first 10 issues alone.

Happy Treasure Hunting!!!
