Yes, I think a woman should be able to choose her own car. However, whether it be a man or woman, I would hope that the person would do some research on the car in regards to safety, cost of repairs, cost of insurance, etc. It's fine to want a particular car but it might not fit into the budget in ways other than just the sticker price. When I bought my car, I knew what I wanted the interior to look like and the exterior, colors, sun roof, leather seats, etc. I did call my insurance agent to get the yearly cost of the policy and discussed the other issues with my husband as he is a mechanic and knows much more than I do in those areas. Fortunately, I had chosen the right car for me and our budget.

Unless you plan to drive the car with your wife in the passenger seat all the time, she should pick it.
Frankly, if you think she can't pick her own car, you need to rethink how you view her. It can lead to a quick divorce. She's not a child that needs to be guided through life. Maybe you should let your wife see various cars online and at dealerships, test drive the ones she likes, and then teach her about each car. Prices, gas mileage, care, etc are good things to mention. Is the car a gas guzzler? Does it need a lot of personal upkeep like putting in oil, etc? She can then make an informed decision on her own. That can save both of you on car decisions in the future, too.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

Sandstorm, trust me on this one. Make sure that your wife has input on the car. if it is because you are making the payments, or because she does not understand "mechanical stuff", you still want her to have a decision on this. To choose it for her without her input means that you have no faith in her abilities.
If you are concerned about her picking a car you don't like, then go with her and get her opinion and talk this over. You may want to give her a choice between two or 3 vehicles. But please make sure that she likes the car.
My husband did this to me one time. He came home with the vehicle and didn't get my input on it. I hated the car. The car kept breaking down, and the car was difficult for me to drive. If he had allowed me to have input, I would have picked something better.

The best thing you could do it pick out some great reliable choices and have her take them for a test drive. She is the one that has to drive it after all. If she can't feel comfortable and confident to drive the car there is no use in purchasing it.
So yes she should be able to choose...a little bit anyways.

If let her choose something of this magnitude then you are just opening a window for future independence. So the answer is no this will help establish the law that men are superior and women are inferior

That all depends, my buddy who got himself a Russian bride picked out her car for her because she wanted a Class 5 BMW for driving her son to school and for getting grocery.
