Every fictional president I can think of ("Dave", "The American President", President Bartlet from "The West Wing", etc.) has been a democrat.

In my whole life I cannot recall a single instance where a republican president has been positively portrayed.

There are frequent instances where fictional republican presidents or presidential candidates are negatively portrayed, such as in "The American President" when Richard Dreyfuss plays Senator Bob Rumson, the republican candidate for next president, showing him cackling gleefully and rubbing his hands together proclaiming, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"

In other words, in fictional film and television, I've seen only democrats portrayed as political heroes and republicans as villains.

Are there any fictitious republican heroes? In ANY movie or television show ever made?

Arnold Vinick from the last two seasons of "The West Wing" was largely portrayed in a positive light. He was certainly likeable, as the unpleasant actions he took were matched with those of his Democratic opponent.

Well, the liberal rich snobs are on the hunt. Some of the answers that were given, were just brainless, like the comment on Barry Goldwater, this person obviously doesn't know their anus from a hole in the ground. I am sure I could think of plenty of movies(1 comes to mind, "Eisenhower" starring Tom Selleck) about the person's question. I would need to do some research, but, I do have to say, that Hollywood is not kind to Republicans or Conservatives for the most part due to the fact that these 2 fine institutes have in the past and present, represented morality, God fearing nationalists, and letting people make their own decisions on how to spend their money, raise their children, and think for themselves. Unfortunately, Hwood, swings on the liberal/demoncrat side because they can promote immorality, filth, moral decadence, communism, and so forth...oh yeah, demoncrats are rich too, please don't say that they are poor people trying to make us all even, I just bet ya, that if Al Gore didn't make one dime from his crappy movie, or books,or TV appearances, or anthing else he promotes, yet he has it all(polluted contaminates that he talks against) himself and is quite rich himself(ie...hypocrite) that he wouldn't do it for free. But, mark my words, the wonderful Hwood, will make a wonderful movie portraying how great and insightful ole Al is, and what would we do if he hadn't invented the internet. And to top it off, the stupid Academy Awards would give out one of the golden man statues(that take alot of energy and resources from the earth)and say this is one of the best movies ever, next to Brokeback Mountain!!!Please, spare me!

Nope.. and you never will. Not in their mindset. Same with military... all crazy nazis. Same with business people... all corrupt oppressors... destroyers of the environment... blah, blah...

Can't really blame them. In their world, alll they know is people that are like themselves. So the writers, producers, actors have no clue about the other America that is out there. Their thinking seems to be "I don't know ANY Republicans, so there must not be any out there. So I'll make movies accordingly."

You expect Hollywood to do this? LOL! Two of the greatest real presidents were Republicans,Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt (and they're on Mt. Rushmore).
