Because of the whole "Father into your hands I commend my spirit" The song is thought to mean that the death of Jesus had no relevancy "trust in my self-righteous suicide" That Jesus thought that Angels would take his place "I cry when angels deserve to die" "why have you foresaken me"

But Daron Malakian has said "The song is about how when people die, they will be regarded differently depending on the way they pass. Like, if I were to die from a drug overdose, everyone would say I deserved it because I abused drugs, hence the line 'Angels deserve to die'."

And finally, some people think that they can hear "heroic suicide" at the beginning of it, supposedly praising the terrorists after 9/11.
