Emo describes the music and not the band. Devics does jazz and punk, but they are neither a jazz band or a punk band. Panic! At the Disco is a rock band that probably plays some Emo music.

Panic! at the Disco is not an emo band. If you search on MySpace, they list themselves as Rock/Big Beat/Techno.

No. The lyrics aren't particularly whiny or focused on things most people would consider "emotional" at all, and they're a bit to dance-y to be fully emo. The best description? Trip hop cabaret dance punk... I forgot where that's from, but whoever it is hit the nail on the head. But if you or your friend like them, it shouldn't matter at all. Who cares about the genre, you know? Everyone is so busy fighting over music they fail to realize it really is all music and they all love the same thing ;-) So yes, don't worry about it.

I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

They are considered a lot of things including emo, rock, pop, dance, etc. So yeah, I would say so but a lot of people think they are just acting emo to appear like they haven't sold out to their fans (which I don't think they did...a lot of artists are on MTV).

as a musician myself i have to say that music is just another form of emotion expressed through instruments
i sound like a damn hippy but seriously i dont believe that its just the only thing EMO...everything is
if your referring it to the I want to slit my wrists because i love you so much type of EMO then no its not that "EMO"

um i would say no, they are not emo but, your friend can believe what she wants. their songs aren't really about emo stuff but whatever you want to call it, their music is good

Actually, Panic doesn't fit it any specific category, it's more like, random.
Dashboard Confesstionnal, however, is emo.

i would say no because they arent really whiny and their songs arent depressing (or atleast i dont think they are)
on myspace they (and fan sites) dont say emo
let your friend just think of it how she wants
i dont think the all american rejects are but my friends say they are so
