Happiness is an emotion. We all carry it within ourselves. If you believe happiness comes from outside, you might be waiting for someone else to give you your happiness (it won't happen). Or perhaps you don't believe you deserve to be happy (you do, unless you don't want to be). With rare exceptions, no one is happy all the time. Take responsibility for your own happiness, and consider what could cause that. If you're not happy, it's not too late to change a few things that could be causing your discomfort (like if you fall asleep on your arm and you roll off of it, or something).
Good luck finding some happiness. Just don't ever buy it from anyone -- what they're selling isn't happiness.

Most people do. It's a variety of things. We're encouraged to do so by our environment. Our parents teach us to do this and/or don't do that, and we assume if we follow their instructions (which are screwed up in themselves), we can win their happiness (which made us happy when we were children). That's a tough thing to grow out of (but necessary if you want to become independent). We're encouraged by other authorities (teachers, police men, etc) in a similar manner. We're encouraged by our peers to conform. Don't make others uncomfortable and your life will be comfortable. We're encouraged by the media to buy this and do this and join that. No one advertises taking care of things by yourself.
As humans we also have the tendency to look outside for blame and excuse ourselves from it. Blaming ourselves means taking painful, strenous, step-by-step action into improving things, and it's much easier, faster and less painful (at least, in the short-term) to extend the blame outside. Saves us the effort.

There must be balance from the outside and inside dear one.Bad actions are iron shackles and good actions are golden chains.Though the prince of the power of the air is on the outside much can be learned with the guidance of the Spirit of God in this physical world.and with faith and trust you will make it to Nirvana.heaven if you please.May you always be one with the Spirit and be guided all your life by it.but life is to be lived and enjoyed. experienced and learned from.Peace.

Because a man unto himself is a miserable wretch. He needs the fellowship of other people. Remember, no man is an island.
