They are all basically good, depending what you want them to do. For recording your family history and researching it with one program - I'd go with the PAF program from The Church of Latter Day Saints. You can download the file free of charge from their website, www.familysearch.org, go to Orders and Download programs > software downloads free > choose product 77062000-S - Personal Ancestral File 4.04.18. It's a very good program, I use it and have been using it since it came out (earlier version of course). You will have to supply information about yourself before you down load it and you can also research the names you're looking for.

Legacy is another good free program, but I'd stick to the PAF program.
