whats this mgm movie?

its a noir 30-50 movie about a guy who is a newspaper owner and he controls strictly his sister. There is also a crook who helps the manager in his dirty jobs.

You're thinking of Sweet Smell of Success, released in 1957, starring Burt Lancaster as an inflential newspaper columnist and Tony Curtis as a hungry publicist. Lancaster's character dominates his sister, and uses Curtis to try and break up her romance with a musician.
