Trying for a baby and just wondering how many times I should get my period before I go see a doctor to see if either my husband or I have any problems that are causing us to not be able to become pregnant.

Any obgyn will tell you to try for a year on your own to conceive before they will do tests. Once you have tried a full year, you can then go in and have them test you and your husband. If all is ok, they will more than likely have you start on Chlomid, then attempt IUI's. They will give you a shot in the upper hip/buttox area, to force you to ovulate, then your husband makes a "deposit" where they will wash the sperm so that only the strongest specimens are taken. You then go to the obgyn where they inject it into you with a long syringe type device. If that does not work, then they may suggest that you try in vetro. Depending on your age (under 35), I would just relax and "have fun trying" own your own. Stress is a big inhibitor, so try and "relax"! Good luck

depends on how long you have been trying. After a year I would definitely go see someone. If you are older (maybe 30 and up) then I would go after about 6-9 months.

Good Luck,

Carrie

usually it is one year but you can talk to your dr if you have your annual coming up soon. you can also check out the book taking charge of your fertility and learn how to tell when you are getting close to ovulation so you'll know the best time to do some matress dancing.

Hubby and I had trouble conceiving with our first child, doctors typically recommend one year.
