The alternative to fish-oil supplements is dietary fish. The chief concern here is mercury contamination. That's why the EPA/FDA issues guidelines on the amounts of various types of fish thought to be safe for consumption during pregnancy and nursing

Omacor is usually prescribed to people with high triglyceride level. I presume this is your present condition? The FDA (check out http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/label/2004/21654lbl.pdf) suggests that the drug should be given to pregnant women if the drug's benefit outweighs its potential risks to the unborn child. This conclusion they gathered, since they still have not enough evidence to conclude what effects Omacor could have on fetuses.
Should you take it?That's the hardest part, of which I can't help you much. You may wish to wait and talk to your prenatal doc first, just to be sure. But since your PCM gave you Omacor... I'm not too sure. However, according to FDA's recommendation, the use of Omacor should be considered only when reasonable attempts have been taken to reduce your triglyceride level. Now, according to research (you can search for them in PubMED or MEDLINE), an increase in triglyceride level can be related to factors such as, excess body weight, excess alcohol intake, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, the use of estrogen therapy and other drugs such as beta blockers or thiazide. In that sense, if you get to tackle those factors, Omacor may become less necessary.
I hope that helps.

Yes, ultrasounds are safe..there are absolutely no side effects on the fetus..I had numerous ultrasounds with my 2nd pregnancy..baby was fine. I have never heard of any problems with the baby from ultrasounds...it is not like an xray so there is no radiation or anything.

You can go to www.safefetus.com and type your medicine in there and it will tell you what kind of effects it has on the baby and if any tests have been done on the medicine. I think class B medicines are ok to take. Good luck and I hope that helps.

don't trust people on the internet about medical questions, especially on yahoo answers, i would recomend WEBMD.com (they are certified, i know they helped me a couple times with vitamins and nutritions), they can probably help you or just wait it out 15 hours

why don't you just look up the medicine online? maybe you shouldn't be having a baby until you get a bit more of an education and patience.
