Our 10 month old daughter was in the hospital over the weekend for the stomach flu/gastroenteris. She went in last Friday evening violently throwing up. She got admitted and stayed through the whole weekend just for the purpose of hydrating her. They did tons of tests on her, and nothing came back really abnormal, other than the fact that they know it was a virus.

She has not showed much interest in eating much of anything since she was discharged and it is worrying us. We even took her to the pedi yesterday who said that she is not dehydrated and it could take 7 days to get over, which would be tomorrow. She has still vomited probably once or twice a day after her bottle. She refuses to even open her mouth for pedialyte. She WILL take an oz. or two of formula every few hours, but that's it. This baby doesn't look sick, is still laughing, smiling, etc, but just extremely weak. I feel it's not normal, but pedi doesn't seem concerned at all. I'm worried so much!

Thanks for the response, but we've tried that/Gatorade....popsicles...she just purses her little lips together and turns her head.

It was a good week and a half before my son was eating normally again. When she feels like it she will start again. Her body is telling her she is sick and until it stops she probably will act that way. Keep a close eye on her, try to get as much fluids in her as possible and at the first sign something is wrong get back to the hospital.

If the toddler is over the two six or 9 months previous (I overlook precisely which at this 2d) they are in a position to and could have it. if your daughter is 3 weeks previous now, she'll be a splash too youthful on the initiating of flu season(we initiate giving out the vaccine in mid-October) - which ability you're able to desire to take different precautions (which comprise vaccinating all human beings else interior the homestead, minimizing exposure to places the place there are ill human beings, being dilligent approximately hand-washing, etc.) till she's a minimum of six months previous. examine have shown that if somebody gets a flu shot previous due interior the season, it's going to nevertheless be effectual for something. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the different certainty is - the flu shot would not take care of against each rigidity of influenza - in uncomplicated terms those that the CDC determines to be the main prevailent of the 300 and sixty 5 days.

we just went through this with our 20 month old. she didn't end up in the hospital but she was close to dehydration. we had to force fluids about 2 oz every half hour.
It was 6 days after she stopped throwing up that she started acting normal but very weak. we got some of the pedisure to help her build up streagh . also if she is still throwing up you need to talk to your Dr. keep offering her all sorts of fluids any fluids are good and they say even if they throw up much of the fluids stay in them. also start offering her light foods such as apple sauce (has fluids in it too) and jello, broth. you might try getting her to eat a few crackers might increase her thirst and get her drinking more.

Have you ever tasted the pedialyte? Ish. Get her some gatorade instead. It does have more sugar in it but if she will drink it isn't it worth it? My family doc said it's fine to give instead.

Symptoms may persist for several days.
