Hi, I happened to catch Oprah's show today, and they were talking about germs and bacteria.

I missed what they said about earrings. Did anyone watch? I'm curious to know, how, and how often, they said we should clean them?

Thanks.

God bless.

I guess the gist of it was that our dead skin cells fall of and accumulate in the whole where it becomes a breading ground for bactiria such as staph. Anywho you should not leave them in for ever like I do and clean them weekly I think. I didn't catch that part that much, but better safe than sorry was what I learned after that episode.

Didn't see Oprah but it's generally a good idea to give your earrings a quick swab with rubbing alcohol before you put them in each day.

They basically said that if the earring posts have debris like dead skin cells and other materials on it, it should be cleaned before you put it back in your ear piercing. Otherwise it would be easy to get it infected.

AS SOON as you buy them in the store. I have been amazed how many women TRY on the earrings before they buy them- if they buy them at all!
Its gross if you think about the earrings just collecting all sorts of nasty stuff!
