Are there any computer screen things that you put on it so as to not damage your eyes that much?

Are you talking about anti-glare items?
Check any computer supply store -- Office Max, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc.

My opthomologist told me that when we work on the computer, we tend to stare -- we do not blink. This can cause the eyes to dry and itch. To prevent, use simple, plain Bausch & Lomb moisture drops. They are over-the-counter and simply mimic natural tears.
