He dominates because he grew up in a family where mom and/or dad dominated. People dominate because they never experienced what it feels like to be loved and accepted unconditionally. They always had to work for it. As a result, they never learn how to give love or recieve love. Therefore they feel this need to control others into doing things for them, cause this makes them feel loved if they can get people to do things for them or "do what they say". They have a fear of loosing those they care about so they will try to control things so this doesnt happen. It is very hard to leave a controlling person. They may even be extremely jeolous. Get some good counseling. Both of you need to go. This is all fixable. Dont live like this. It is a prison. Hope this helps. :) P.S. if this problem doesnt get fixed, then the children will be controllers when they grow up and have families. If you have children, let them know that they are accepted andloved just because they are yours, not because they are good at sports, or are pretty, or smart. Dont make them "work for, or earn you acceptance".

Nothing as long as long as you're not domineering. Marriage is a partnership and if you don't respect your wife's wishes as well as your own or you don't talk things over and make decisions together then it's a dictatorship; not a partnership and these days it usually will not last. I believe the man should be head of his house hold; he should also treat his wife like his sweetheart and she should stand by him thru thick and thin.

It is bad if someone wants to be "dominating" - that means he controlling etc. It is not wrong if he wants to the the "head of the family", leader etc. That means he is strong and dependable and supportive of others. Nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't want anyone to dominate over me.

You must clearly define 'dominating'
If the head of the family runs the family, he does it because someone must lead. If he shouts or scold, then there must be a reason.
As long he does not forces physically or abuses with his fist, I think it is alright for the man to be dominating.

Good luck
