Ahh...the false spector of American Imperialism raises its head again......

America has only ever had one colony in its entire existence......

That colony was the African state of Liberia. We abandoned our colonial claim to it a mere 12 years after we authorized it.

We have never colonized any other territory ever. EVER....

We have, from time to time, at the request of various areas, and at the request of the United Nations, administered certain areas as "Protectorates"..... These have never been colonies, however. These areas, such as the Marshall Islands, the Phillipines, for a short time, and other areas needed our economic aid, and our defense, in order to sustain their population. We, at no time, attempted to settle US citizens in these lands, and displace native peoples.....thus, no colonialization ever took place.

America is not an Imperialistic government, unlike the history of the UK, which colonized much of the known world. We have a hard enough time dealing with our own peoples, let alone those of other cultures.

Yes, I think they are called possessions now. There is an island whose name I cannot remember for the life of me where they manufacture goods using slave labor, the tags say made in america and the products are sent to the mainland into our markets. Tom DeLay visited that Island and acted like everything was was hunkydory--his trip was paid for by lobbyists. Does anybody remember the name of that island?
