"Is this as good as it gets?" It is as good as some of it gets. One important, pressure-relieving, lesson I learned was that I can only control about 50% of what happens. Eased a lot of my disappointment. Some of it was never within my power. Helps me distinguish circumstance from failure.

Some surprising advice: lower your expectations. Learned that with time...and in one of many psychology courses I took seeking similar answers. Try http://www.gethappy.net/quebec.htm

Best of everything to you. I hope you find your life to be "as good as it gets!"

I don't mean to burst your bubble but, there is no perfect world, or perfect place or two perfectly happy people. If your expectations were more realistic, maybe you wouldn't think that everything you do is wrong ("no matter what I do it's wrong). I don't believe that. If your expectations are more realistic, you are less likely to be disappointed. I don't know what your life is like, so when you ask the question, "Is this as good as it gets?" It's impossible for me to say with any certainty that your life, as it is now, is as good as it gets. I have a feeling that you're young and idealistic. I do know this: As long as you berate yourself and say things like, "no matter what I do it's wrong, "things are probably going to stay the same. It's your attitude and outlook that needs to be adjusted. Count your blessings. Think of all the things you have to be thankful for. Find something to do like a hobby or sports that you enjoy and are good at, and pray to the Lord for his comfort and guidance. Good luck!

One cannot be happy without really knowing God and observing his commands. Besides that, we must all develop virtues such as love, inward peace, virtue, self-restraint or temperance and mildness. Perfect happiness is not possible in this world. But it is never too early to plan your life with eternity in mind.

The realization that our unhappiness will eventually pass as will our temporary and fleeting happiness. Forget about both and simply do whatever seems to be next in this wild and wooly trip.

Start by trying to answer this question:

What do I need to do or become before I die so that I can die happy, contented and fulfilled?

The answer might not come to you right away. Might take your whole life. Might change a few times. Regardless, answer that question and then quit pu**yfooting around and DO it!
