Heaven's NO!! There's a huge portion of folks who develop new relationships/committed relations and marry too.
Just got back from visiting my sister in Hawaii and a good friend of hers who's 63 just got hitched and she's sooooo HAPPY!!
40 isn't "old" actually. I laugh a little when they say that 60 is the new 40, or 50 is the new 30.....but so much of it is true because people live longer, keep fit more and more, and even look younger~a lot of them.
Gimme a break, it's just a number, that's all it is!
If you feel like being alone b/c you want to, then fine. But if you hunger for a relationship, go for it!!
There's a lot more of the population 40 and over, than just 20-30 somethings.
You have to do what you want in life because you only live once (that we're aware of anyway)
Don't buy into that dumb societal cr*p.
If you throw in the towel, your not really living your life to the fullest are you?

40 years old? You're still young. I got divorced at 38 after 21 years of a terrible marriage, that I stayed for the kids. Long story.
Anyway, I met a wonderful guy. I dated a few people and it was kinda weird. We just instantly were attracted. We ended up getting married when I was 40. The only hard thing was getting married again.
I kept saying, I got married when I was 17 before, I could say that I was young and stupid. Now I'm getting married at 40 again, all I can say is I'm stupid!!
I've been married for 4 years now. Many of my friends are just now getting divorced and moving on. I have 2 friends that have got on classmates.com and ended marrying someone that we went to high school with.
You need to get out of the house and have fun. OR get on the computer and meet people. whatever, you're just starting to have fun. You are definitely not to old to start over at anything.

It's never too late to start over! I definitely think that you should date. I'm sure there is a right person out there for you around your age. Don't worry about it! And 40 is still young. You still got half of your life to live, don't give up on it now! Good luck with everything and I wish you the best!

No!!!!!! Never to old to date. Or find a significant other. My grandmother got re - married when she was 80 something. So it's never too late! You're never to old to start. Some find there loves later in life. Some find them early. Simple.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! As long as you are healthy and happy NOTHING should keep you from finding happiness with someone! Companionship is VERY desirable at any age, but especially at your age! You are actually just the right age to be mature enough to find the right match for your needs! Be best friends first and it works out awesomely! Smile and enjoy love again!

Nope because it if were then I would have been too old 13 years ago...but I don't want too "sigificant" of an other, I don't want to live with a man and marriage is deffinately out for me. But I do have one "special" person, but I also date other's. That's one of the perks of being older and single.

Just look at Yahoo personals, so many people your age and over think that this is the time of their lives, and many are looking for long term relationships
