I have an older laptop and am looking for a wireless pc card for it. It takes Type II or III. I don't know anything about the different variety and types of cards out there. What are the differences you can buy (Wi-fi, sattelite, cardbus, etc...) and which is best?

I would suggest looking at a Wi-Fi PCMCIA card that goes into a slot on the side of the computer. Most wireless networks are 802.11 b/g compatible, so unless you are trying to connect to an extremely new network, I personally would not bother with a "Pre-N" card. Go with PCMCIA if possible to keep from tying up USB ports. By older, I am assuming that you are still running Windows XP. I do not have experience with adding wireless cards to anything older than XP Service Pack 1.

Satelite cards are modems that connect to the internet via satelite. Wireless networks that are conected to a cable or DSL modem are much faster, at least from what I have seen.
