Liberal protesters make fools out of themselves when protesting in government buildings and universities. I can see the embarassment in the Democrats eyes when these protestors show up. Are todays protesters just making noise because they think that 70s protesters were cool?

No. Because there is something going on in their Country that they think is horribly wrong. It is their right as Americans to voice this. Some people have higher aspirations than looking cool.

I was in that era.. All of that music you mentioned was brand new, it seems like music was being reinvented almost on a weekly basis back then. It was exiting and there really was some good that came of it. There was the biggest rights for women gains since the women's suffrage movements in the early part of the century. Racial equality and environmental awareness also. I like to think that the hippies helped to expose the hypocrisies of the status quo in a way that changed how the whole world thought on a variety of subjects. But there were a lot of dark and ugly things that were the result of those times. We were very wrong in our attitudes on drugs and sex. We were also wrong to believe that we could just plant a garden and live for free. Many unwanted pregnancies, abandoned children,and homeless people and many of us went too far and wound up in prisons. Still... It was a very exiting era to have witnessed.

Hippies protesting with cell phones and no draft just want an excuse to make noise and be seen. The major protest of the past (civil rights, vietnam) all had worthy, meaningful causes. Kids protesting for living wages for cleaning crews at univerities or protesting college dining halls because they import food from some 3rd world country is a joke. people just want to make a scene. And protesting sending troops to Iraq as some sort of offense to the all volunteer army is a joke. Everyone that signed up for the army knew the risk. They weren't forced into it like past wars.

Protests have been on our great planet since creation,It has always and will always be A form,of Revolt,which is somthing that we, as Americans can do,The word "HIPPIES" came from A right that the U.S. constition gives from the right of" FREE SPEACH" In which certain people revolted againtst Authority! stemming from the Draft of the Veit-nom era.However changes in Government will result in Protests As we are are soon to see!
