I have spark and I am getting fuel but not getting power to the bike. If I bypass the selenoid the starter turns over but if it is hooked up I have no power. I got a new one but still no power, I am confused

I have a 83 V65 Magna myself and that sight has a bunch of excellent peaple who now just about everything there is to know about these bikes, it sounds like your starter silnoid has gone bad, a fairly common problem on these bikes after 20+ years, one thing to remember is that the frame is not the primary ground on these bikes, the green wires that run all over the place is, I think the little Sabre's are the same as the Magnas so under the gas tank is where the coils ar mounted, between the coil and the frame is a green ground wire, make sure that has a good clean connection, it have caused much problems in the past. You can hook a car to he bike with jumper cables but DO NOT have the car running, the alt. will puts out to many amps and will fry things. A low battery will allow the bike to crank over but not start. Another thing on the V65 Sabre it has a vacume actuated valve by the tank that turns the fuel on that has caused alot of folks problems. One last thing, when you hit the starter button doe the lights go out? if no you might need to take the button apart and clean the contacts inside.

You have spark, but no power. By no power do you mean it won't run? The bike is so old, I'd have to guess the carbs have to be cleaned. Remove the gas cap and look in the tank with a flashlight (you can see more if the tank is low on fuel). If you see any rust inside the tank, than that's most likely the problem. Clean the carbs anyway.

Not an awful lot of information. Make very sure that the engine is grounded to the frame and that the frame is grounded to the battery. The solenoid is a magnetically actuated plunger so it shouldn't have anything to do with power to the motorcycles engine. Remove the starter and take it down to the local Honda dealer and ask them to check it. If their decent folk they'll do it for free. Once you make sure that the starter is not shorting try another post.
Hope this helps

The bike probably has a clutch lever switch in the system, maybe you have to pull the clutch lever in to activate to solenoid?

If system power doesn't work on the rest of the bike, horn, lights, etc. Check the main fuse, its the metal strip on the solenoid connection, kinda under the little plastic flap, its held in with two screws.

First two things you need to find out is if the plugs are getting spark and if the carbs are getting gas to them. If you got those two things chances are its going to start.
