Every first aid training I've ever gone to has said that the brain starts to die after 3 minutes without oxygen.

However people can survive for longer without damage under various sets of circumstances including hypersaturating themselves with oxygen (as in the case of free divers) or in conditions of extreme cold, which seems to preserve the body better if anything happens.

It can go for 4 minutes with out oxygens and that is what i was told from nurses and dr.
